It Is hard to believe we are more than half way through the craziest year of arguably everyones life. Despite the challenges and changes I have managed to stay positive and healthy, continue to grow my business, and ride Lovey consistently (up until the removal of my gallbladder two weeks ago). The surgery had been a long time coming and I am happy to say I am finally feeling great and am able to move around and eat most foods again. The biggest bummer for me this year was having to cancel my vacations to Utah, Costa Rica, and the Kentucky Derby. My husband and I really enjoy traveling and look forward to getting back to it once it is a little safer to get around. For now we will stick to short road trips to the mountains to escape from reality for a bit.
It has been a busy year for Shannon Castaneda Photography. Because of the cancellation of my trips I was able to build a new relationship with a schooling hunter/jumper and dressage show in Brooksville, Florida. I am now the official photographer at the LAJUF Shows at Fannin Hill Farm. It is a wonderfully run show on an incredibly beautiful show grounds and I am super excited for the opportunity to be their OP. I look forward to returning to Fannin Hill Farm on October 10 & 11 when the weather cools down a bit. Here are some of my favorites from the shows in May and June:
It is awesome most of the LAJUF show dates fall on the months the Sunshine State show is not running. I have been the official photographer for the Sunshine State Open Pleasure Show in Ocala, Florida for exactly one year now. It has been so wonderful to watch the show grow into such a successful two day show. I absolutely love the Florida Horse Park and the entire Sunshine State show family. Below are some of my favorites from the last two shows of the summer series. I forward to being back at the Florida Horse Park this weekend!
Another highlight of my summer was the weekend full of sessions in the Central Florida Area. It was so nice to see Erica Hills again in Osteen, Florida. It had been almost exactly one year since our last horse & rider session! I had the pleasure of meeting her new borrowed horse Bazinga and we had a wonderful morning on her beautiful property. Half way through the session the sun decided to come out and play and we captured some phenomenal photos! On top of visiting Erica, I also had a few other session lined up for the weekend. Some of my favorite photos from the trip are pictured here:
I just wrapped up editing photos from another weekend full of sessions at Happy Talk Farm in Lutz, Florida. I have a ton of wonderful stories and images to share from the weekend so I will save that for another blog post :)
Thanks for taking the time to see what I have been up to during the pandemic! I hope all is well for those who are reading this and I pray the world around us gets back to normal sooner than later. Cheers to being more than half way through through this rollercoaster of a year! #2020
