Networking With The Best!

In March I had the opportunity to attend my first equine photography networking event. Originally the plan was to attend the Equine Photography Retreat, which is 4 days of classes and styled shoots with different photographers, but it ended up getting postponed to 2022 due to COVID. Although that did not work out two of the photographers Evelyn Szczepanek and Erica Hills still decided to put together 3 amazing and fun days of sessions. Unfortunately my Papaw passed away right before the event so I missed the first day but the second two days were so much fun and and I learned so many things that are going to help me become an even more successful Florida equine photographer!

We had several sessions lined up on my first day in Wellington! The first was practicing black and white background photography. Here are my favorites of Azimut, Max, Baby C and Bash the pup:

The second was shooting midday in harsh lighting conditions. I have always been nervous about booking a horse & rider session mid day because the lighting is not as soft as during golden hour. I gained quite a bit of confidence shooting midday after taking and editing these photos of Azimut, Kathryn, Ava, and Cam:

The last session of the day was a horse & rider session with Katie, Fletcher, and Winston at sunset and boy did we get some beautiful light that evening! Take a peek at my favorites from the session here:

The second day we drove up to Fort Pierce for a session on the beach with Angie, her two daughters Angelyn and Chrtistiana, and their two Andalusian horses Rhapsody and Sonata. I dreamed about taking photos of horses on the beach since I started my business and I am so excited the day finally came! I have the best memories of riding my own horse on the beach when my mom surprised me for my 13th birthday and I am so happy I was able to capture memories for these ladies to treasure for many years to come. Check out some of my favorites here:

I learned so much over these two days and am so thankful to have met so many incredibly talented photographers from around the USA! Thank you Evelyn and Erica for putting together such a wonderful event I am so looking forward to the Equine Photography Retreat next year!!
