A Fantastic Week of Equestrian Senior Sessions

Late April was a whirlwind for Shannon Castaneda Photography (SCP) as we embarked on an unforgettable road trip, capturing three senior sessions in one week across Florida! Each session was a celebration of the unique bond between seniors and their horses, filled with joy, memories, and stunning photos. Here’s a glimpse into this exciting journey and why equestrian senior sessions are so special.

Our adventure began at my barn in Elkton, where we photographed Caroline and her stunning Thoroughbred, Maestro. Caroline brought her entire family along, including her other four-legged best friend, Archie. With plenty of helping hands, we captured breathtaking images of Caroline and Maestro with the whole family! As Caroline prepares to pursue her master’s degree at the University of North Florida, we wish her all the success in the world. Want your family in your senior photos? Next, we hit the road to Brooksville for a session with Lauren, one of our cherished horse show clients, and her beloved heart horse, Winnie. Though Winnie is now retired, she was Lauren’s steadfast partner throughout high school, carrying her through countless shows and memories. This session was a beautiful tribute to their bond, with golden-hour shots that captured their connection perfectly. As Lauren heads to Florida Southern College, we wish her the best on her new journey. Are you a horse show competitor? Our final stop took us across the state to Merritt Island, where we photographed Marissa and her handsome gelding, Doda. Over the past two years, Marissa and Doda have forged an extraordinary bond, and their session was a testament to their partnership. Marissa opted to add a striking black background portrait to her horse-and-rider photos, creating a timeless keepsake. As she begins her journey at Florida Eastern Southern College, followed by UCF, we wish her every success. Are you a fan of our black background photos? Senior photos hold a deeply personal place in my heart. When I graduated high school, I didn’t think to have photos taken with my mare, Dolly. Looking back, I wish I’d met an equine photographer who could have inspired me to capture that milestone with the horse who carried me through those formative years.
